GIMP: COOL TEXT

Then, you need to open up (in the window with all of the tools) Xtns, and follow this route:

A window should pop up. In that window, you need to change both of the gradients used to "Foreground to Background, RGB":

Then, go back and edit the font, size, and then change the border according to the text size. (i.e: 75-100 = 5). A lot of the time, the border width varies not only with text size but with font face, so you need to keep trying if the font doesn't look how you'd like it in the end.
Press OK, and your text will appear. Normally, there is a shadow. But, if you do not like this shadow there when you put the text on banners and such, (which I don't) then you can merge the two middle layers to get rid of it.

Now, select the text (while your on the layer you just created by merging the top three) and copy it. Then, paste it where you want to use it. Viola, cool text!

Be sure to play around with the other text styles under the Logo tab, this is just my personal favorite. ;]
