TM/HM Moves: If the father knows any TM/HM moves, the baby may inherit them.
Egg Moves: If the father knows any egg moves, it can pass them on the the baby.
Level-Up Moves: If both the father and the mother knows a move, the baby can inherit it.
Abilities: The baby Pokemon inherits its ability from the mother.
:: Items In Breeding :: There are a few Pokemon you can obtain only through breeding with items. These Pokemon are listed below.

Sea Incense + Maril = Azurill
Lax Incense +Wobbufet = Wynaut
Full Incense + Snorlax = Munchlax
Luck Incense + Blissey/Chansey = Happiny
Odd Incense + Mr. Mime = Mime Jr.

Daycare Messages

If you talk to the man at the Daycare gate while your Pokemon are there, he will tell you a simple message. You can conclude from this message whether the Pokemon will mate or not.

"They're very friendly..."Extremely Likely
"The two don't seem to get along..." Somewhat Likely
"The two don't seem to like each other..."Not Very Likely
"The two prefer to play with other Pokemon..."No Chance

Why should I breed?

There are many reasons why breeding is a good idea. First off, its the only way to obtain the baby Pokemon [other than special events/occasions] You can also do this as a way of legally "cloning" your Pokemon. Also, through chains of breeding, you can create Pokemon with really good stats. Breeding is an excellent way to produce Pokemon that develop how you want them to.
